Worth at St Pancras
WORTH was an installation exhibition situated in the 24,000 square foot of arches under St Pancras Station. This phenomenon combined 40 artists whose work interacted with the space; it was created and curated by Helene Williams and Michael Czerwinski. This is the description of Helene’s work where the process was as important as the final installation.
“The Scott building was something of an obsession for Helene Williams, one of the organisers of WORTH. She was shown it as a child saw it in her dreams, but could never gain permission to enter it. Her solution was to get a two-day job here as a security guard, during which she slipped out of her official suit, donned shorts and T-shirt, and took an impression of one of the fourth-floor gothic windows using eight layers of liquid latex. The peeled-off latex is on show, soot and all.”
